2024 MJM Tournament Invite Letter Posted

HoopTime Basketball will be hosting a restructured Mike Jackson Memorial HoopTime Basketball Tournament in Juneau from Wednesday, March 20 – Saturday, March 23, 2024. Due to various circumstances, this year’s tournament will only be for boys and girls in grades 3rd - 6th. Co-Ed teams can also register.

Games will be played between 8 am – 9 pm Wednesday through Saturday. Championship games will be played on Saturday, March 23, location to be determined. Please be patient as we receive registrations, we will make adjustments as needed to the divisions to make this a successful tournament for all who attend.

The Shootout will consist of 2 divisions: “6U”, and “5U” for both boys and girls. Coaches need to register their team(s) in the division they want to play in when registering, using the information below as guidance. 6th grade teams must play in the “6U” division. All 3rd - 5th graders will play in the “5U” division. Teams that are mixed grades must be registered in the division of the grade of the oldest player on the team. If there are not enough teams to create a division, it may be necessary to combine a division. If you have a co-ed team, please contact Sue. Generally, you would register a co-ed team in the boy’s division(s). Players can play up a division but cannot play down.

HoopTime has permission to use Floyd Dryden Middle School for housing. Indicate that when registering, this is on a first come first serve basis. Be aware that we are charged hourly for the gym overnight and we are charging $50.00 per team. Other than Floyd Dryden teams are responsible for their own housing for this tournament. Registration for the tournament is $200.00 per team and is due by March 10th if paying by check.
Registration will open on Saturday, February 10th and all registrations need to be completed by March 10th! Late registration will not be accepted past this date, so we have time to set the game schedule. You can pay by credit online during registration. No changes may be made to your rosters once the tournament begins. Register MJM TOURNAMENT (hooptime.org). You will need to set up a member profile and establish a username (this is your email) and password.

We will make every effort to have an official available at every game; however, each team must be ready to provide a coach or parent official for your games should the need arise. A change this year we will be requiring each team to provide a person to scorekeep and/or run the clock for each game your team plays in. For the age group, the tournament is for this year, the game ball size is Size 6, 28.5.

Rules: Only players who are listed on official rosters will be allowed to play. No player will be allowed to play on more than one team. At least one coach is needed for each team in every game. All games including Championship games will be played in two 20-minute halves; the first half will be a 20-minute running clock, and the second half will be a 17-minute running clock and the last 3 minutes stop clock. Tie games will be resolved with two, 2-minute overtimes and then a third sudden death overtime as necessary. All tournament rules will be provided to coaches once registered.
